I am not sure where to start with these two. I love them to pieces. I met Greg and Kahla through my husband. Greg is also a firefighter in Baltimore City. I jumped at the chance to help them plan their wedding. This couple is so relaxed and their wedding will be the same; a no fuss, country wedding at the beautiful Pond View Farms. Their adorable daughter, Makensie, will have a starring role as their flower girl. Bring your party pants, people–it’s going to quite the ride.
How did you two meet?
The story of how we met is kind of a funny one, but we’ll just stick with we met at a friends house 🙂 A group of us were enjoying the night on our friend’s breezeway where Greg and I said a quick hi and that was about it. A few weeks later and back at the same house, we officially met and stayed up half of the night talking. From then on we never stopped talking to eachother. What started as a quick hi soon turned into this is who I want to spend my life with.
How did he propose?
Greg proposed to me at Susquehanna State Park on June 1, 2014. When I was pregnant with our daughter we had spent the day there and he had taken a picture of me sitting on a wooden bench. A year later we went back to the park to walk around and to retake the picture but this time with her sitting with me. When we got there, a lady was laying out on the bench so we kept walking down towards the water. While we were standing there taking pictures of Makensie playing, Greg took my claddagh ring from my finger that he had given me when we found out we were having a girl, and started playing with it. He then put it into his pocket and said that it was bent and needed to be replaced, which just annoyed me and I told him to give it back. After I put up a fight to get my ring back, Greg got down on one knee and proposed! I can honestly say that I was completely surprised and it showed with my response of “really?!”
What do you think will be your favorite part of the wedding day?
I think my favorite part of our wedding day will be our first look. The venue is set up perfectly where you can do your first look pictures down by their pond which gives the bride a long and anticipating walk down from the house. Greg never fails to tell me I’m beautiful no matter what I look like, so I can’t wait to see his reaction on our wedding day.
Can you provide planning advice to brides in the thick of it right now?
My planning advice to brides would be to remember that it is also your grooms day as well. We loved talking ideas with eachother and picked out almost everything together. Talking out the details with your groom, or with Sara 🙂 helps maintain bridal sanity!
What are you most looking forward to about married life?
In married life I am most looking forward to continuing this crazy journey we started a few years ago, but now as husband and wife.
